Hi guys!  My name is Andrew.  I was born and raised in Edina, Minnesota, and am a fourth year medical student at the University of Toledo.  I am planning on pursuing a career in emergency medicine.   I enjoy expedition and wilderness medicine, and like the idea of bringing healthcare services to the most remote and isolated areas of the globe.  I hope someday to spend a year as the medical officer at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole station in Antarctica.

I’ve had some great experiences travelling around the world, but usually I’ve just been a tourist.   At the beginning of my third year of medical school I went to Guatemala and gave medical aid to Guatemalans living in the villages around Lake Atitlan.  It was one of the highlights of my medical education.  I am very excited to represent the Ride for World Health as a team member and to work with the World Bicycle Relief and HEAL Africa, both of which are exceptional organizations focused on making healthcare available to areas of the world rife with war, poverty and disease.
