R4WH COO / National Team Rider
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Columbus, OH
Hello! My name is Kami Teal and I am currently serving on the 2010
Board of Directors. I am a first year OB/GYN resident at UCLA and
truly enjoying the start of (a very busy!!!) residency. I am
originally from California where I graduated from high school (Buena
High School) and college (Pepperdine University). I then moved out to
Columbus to go to THE Ohio State University for four years of medical
school. It was there that I received excellent medical training and
met many incredible people. It was also because I went to Ohio State
that I was exposed to Ride for World Health. I was fortunate enough
to be chosen to be the COO of the 2009 Ride. I can honestly say
without any hesitation that the two months on the road were two of the
best months of my life. The Ride meant so much to me in a variety of
ways.... It challenged me physically and forced me to push through the
depths of fatigue to persevere over Monarch Pass. It forced me to
step up and lead a group of 25 of my peers through the good times and
the bad. It introduced me to many life-long friends. And most
importantly, it opened my eyes to the awesome amount of change that a
small group of dedicated individuals can create. Because of this, my
adventure with Ride for World Health did not end when I dipped my
front tire in the Atlantic Ocean; instead it was at that point that it
started. I am thrilled to be able to work with the 2010 Team and many Teams beyond to help Ride for World Health reach its fullest potential.
