2007 Logistics
Cleveland, OH
Case Western Reserve University
I have been honored to be a part of R4WH since 2006, when I started work planning the 2007 ride as the Director of Logistics. Since then, I have served in an advisory capacity to each subsequent ride, primarily focused on ride logistics. I am now very excited to serve my first term as member of the R4WH Board of Directors.
Global health has been a longstanding interest in my life. I am currently a third year medical student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. While at Case, I worked in an isolated, rural medical clinic in Honduras for a summer. Prior to starting medical school at Case, I took time off to conduct HIV research, to travel, and to plan the 2007 R4WH. As an undergraduate at Yale University, I devoted a significant amount of coursework to global health, and had the opportunity to put my coursework into action when I worked as an intern at the US Department of State: Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator. In the future (life after medical school), I plan to become involved in global health policy work once again.
Bicycling is one of the personal passions in my life, along with endurance athletics. I have raced competitively since college, and plan to continue to do so as long as possible. I love the excitement of a sprint finish, and relish every mile of a 4-hour training ride.
R4WH is a remarkable, hands-on handlebars organization, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of it. I look forward to helping the organization continue to grow and develop into a sustainable, annual operation that continues to raise money for valuable, yet underfunded global non-profit organizations and that provides global health education and advocacy to thousands of Americans.
