R4WH Co-Founder, Advisor
Cincinnati, OH
University of Cincinnati
Andrew Suchocki is a co-founder of the ride and participated in the inaugural cross-country traverse in 2006. He currently serves as chair of the board of directors and advises the CEO, COO, and finance chair. A recent graduate of Ohio State COM and the University of Cincinnati/Christ Hospital Family Medicine residency program, he currently works as a doctor in a homeless clinic in Louisville,
Kentucky. This allows him to see patients regardless of capacity to pay, provide dignity for all, and further this view of healthcare as a human right.
Andrew has worked abroad in a variety of capacities. He worked in a rural Honduran clinic doing research and patient care several times during residency. In medical school, he created a collaborative between OSU, the UN Development Program, and the Swaziland HIV/AIDS council. Fourteen students were involved in a broad-based internship program for 8 weeks. Most recently, he was working in a clinic supported by the 2009 Ride for World Health in Kigutu, Burundi. In addition, he is a board member of the Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC), a national leader in development and growth in global health in medical education.
An active cyclist, Andrew races for Team Hungry in Cincinnati and is found throughout the Ohio Valley during the spring and summer pretending he is paid to race in a circle. When he grows up, he is considering going back to school for a Masters in Public Health and hopes to one day create a utopian job that includes patient care,
teaching, and global health work.
