R4WH Advocacy Director / National Team Rider
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Columbus, OH
Hi! I’m Lauren Haveman, a fourth year medical student at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and this year’s Director of Advocacy and Community Outreach. Originally from Minneapolis, I decided to trade the frozen tundra for the beach and attended Pepperdine University. However, I then realized I actually missed the ice and snow and came back to the Midwest for medical school. When our ride is over at the end of May, I will be moving—somewhere—and beginning my residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics!
I was first introduced to R4WH when I was applying to medical schools and it was definitely one of the reasons I ultimately chose to attend OSU. I’ve been passionate about medicine and working with underserved populations for as long as I can remember and majored in International Studies and Spanish in undergrad—beginning the preparation for a career in global health. Along the way, I’ve also lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Xela, Guatemala and the experiences and lessons learned there have only increased my excitement about the ride and its mission. I am really excited for the opportunity to be involved with this amazing cause while teaching others about the importance of global health on our way across the country.
Thank you for your prayers and support as we prepare for the 2010 Ride for World Health! |
