Hello! I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of this year's Ride for World Health. While my background is in mathematics and computers, my love of cycling and helping others is what drew me to this cause. I'm excited to help bike across the country and raise awareness of the global health crisis that exists across the world.
Raised in Indiana, I attended Ball State University in Muncie, IN and Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis, gathering a bachelor's and master's degree in applied mathematics. The critical thinking skills and logical train of thought taught in my math classes fostered my inclination to work with computers. Upon moving to Louisville I began doing IT work at a local health food store - a grocery that drew my attention due to its plethora of vegan-friendly products. Around the same time, my interest in fitness and sports grew, and cycling in my life soon became more than a mode of transportation. After racing road bikes for the first time in 2009, I joined BikeClicks.com/Team Louisville for the 2010 season as a Category 3 racer.
But the base miles I plan on logging on the R4WH mean much more than aerobic fitness and cardiovascular health. They represent the dedication that I and the other riders have to the cause of showing America what we're willing to do make global health come to the forefront of conciousness. Through donations and advocacy we will assist our beneficiaries in improving the lives of those who may not be so fortunate. As cycling and health are two passions of mine, combining them seemed like the logical decision, and the 2010 Ride for World Health will be a phenomenal way to affect global change. |
