National Team Rider
Virginian Commonwealth University
Richmond, VA
Hey everyone! My name is Roshan and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in Biomedical Engineering. I was born and raised in Bangalore, India till I was seven. I then moved to New York for a few years till my family decided to travel south to Richmond, VA where I currently reside. As you can tell, from an early childhood I have been on the move. As a result, one of my hobbies is to travel. Throughout college I had the opportunity to travel abroad to Spain, England, Morocco, Wales, Scotland, Portugal and Costa Rica.
At my university I was introduced to Alternative Spring Break (ASB), a volunteer organization that sends college students during their spring break to help impoverished families throughout the US. Through ASB, I was able to help families during the Hurricane Katrina disaster, build homes for the poor, and work with mentally disabled campers. My experience taught me that the purpose of volunteering was not just to try and improve the lives of the impoverished, but also to learn from them how to appreciate my own life.
I was raised in a household of doctors, so medicine has always been a part of my life. With an early exposure and plenty of clinical experience, I knew that this profession was right for me. As I studied in college, I began to intertwine my passion for medicine with my love for travel. Aside from enjoying the scenic view this bike tour will provide, I believe Ride for World Health will make me more conscious of the many medical hardships faced across the world. I can’t wait to embark on this adventure!
