R4WH Finance / National Team Rider
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Liberty Center, OH
Hi! My name is Brian and I’m what you might call a pure-bred Ohioan. I grew up in Liberty Center, a small town in the sticks of northwest Ohio best known to locals for its ice cream parlor and high school football team. From there I attended Miami University in the idyllic rolling hills north of Cincinnati, where I graduated with a B.S. in Zoology. After Miami I enrolled at The Ohio State University College of Medicine where I am entering my fourth year—finally! After graduation I plan to pursue a residency in anesthesiology.
I first learned about Ride for World Health soon after I arrived on campus at OSU, seeing some R4WH water bottles lying around in the basement of our medical school. I made a secret promise to myself that I would someday get involved. Three years later, and I’m thrilled that I’m about to take over as Finance Chair for the 2010 Ride. I’m excited about the prospect of organizing our finances and putting in over 3,000 miles on the road supporting our great cause.
Through this experience I’m hoping to break out from Ohio and teach others about international health issues as well as to learn from people all across the country with a multitude of different backgrounds and ideas. All the while, I’m excited that we’ll be raising money to support international health programs abroad. I have always felt the best way to make change in the world was to get outside, get to work, and share what you’re doing with others. What better way to accomplish this than to pedal from San Diego to Washington, D.C., sharing ideas with people all across the USA. Now it’s time to get to work! |
